Launch date: August 1, 2004 In January of 2004 our American partners approached us with the proposal to jointly create an Internet shop to sell undergarments and lingerie.
We found the idea interesting, rolled up the sleeves and got to work.
The project partners included eSector Solutions, Zebrus Company and a network of lingerie manufacturers in France and the USA.
The future ModernLingerie.com Internet shop had to have extensive functionalities and sell modern and flashy lingerie to customers from the USA, Canada and Great Britain.
At that time, Internet offered several major brands successfully selling their own expensive lingerie via the Internet but no shop was available with fashionable lingerie at reasonable prices.
It took us 3 months to create this Internet shop. We attracted clothing classification consultants who assisted us in creating a universal shop capable of selling lingerie of any type and style.
Here are only some options provided by ModernLingerie.com:
- Creating a set. In addition to your choice, the system could offer other items of matching style. For instance, the shop, as an experienced sales assistant, would offer you stylish black breeches to match the already purchased pink blouse.
- Wish list. Wish List was likely invented by woman to simplify a man’s life. To make a gift to your loved one, a man does no need to know her size and taste – just to have a credit card. The lady would choose her favorite items and neatly fold them into the Wish List. The gentleman would only need to pay for the package.
The Wish List guides customers through a step-by-step buying process enabling them to collect all their items in one place and buy them later when they are in a proper mood and feel like spending some money. No one would be allowed to buy your goods in the meantime.
- Management system of the Online Storefront. The Online Storefront management system allows administrators to keep abreast of the most popular website monthly search requests and based on this information order a new supply of merchandize for the shop.
The system is designed to minimize the efforts of introducing new items into the shop’s assortment.
The system is capable of calculating the cost of delivery to the customer depending on:
a. Type of product, its volume, weight and size b. The region of departure and destination – for example, by sending a parcel to Virginia, a 2% sales tax should also be added to the purchase, and c. Regional tax and customs terms – for example, you would not be able to send a package with perfume from the US to Japan since Japan prohibits all imports of perfume without special permits.
The system also manages gross margins and discount coupons. Customers, who saw the banner of ModernLingerie.com with a discount code on some website they happened to browse, could get a discount by entering that code when purchasing from ModernLingerie.com.
